Why Live / Work Lofts Promote Business Growth and Connections

March 3rd, 2009

Bluwater Crossing Offers Valuable Business Clusters and Networking Opportunities

San Diego, CA (January 7, 2007) – Trammell Crow Residential’s newest live work lofts is Carlsbad, California’s real estate worth taking a second glance. These live work lofts aren’t just good for the environment; they can be good for business. Bluwater Crossing’s live/work lofts offer the opportunity to generate business clusters of associated home based-businesses within the development – allowing residents to gain knowledge and skills from one another and create a business environment in one location without the necessity to travel.

David DiRienzo, VIP buyer of Bluwater Crossing says he will use the unit for a satellite office as well as a weekend getaway. “Technology plays such a major role in our day-to-day lives - we can virtually work anytime, anywhere. Time is a precious commodity.”

With approximately 1,000 square feet of ground floor workspace, each unit has garage doors that roll up to provide exposure for the business, and a cool ocean breeze. In addition to reducing time, the concept can help grow relatively fragile businesses by cutting costs. The live / work concept is a niche market for people who need more space than a typical house and can accommodate that function in the ground floor work environment.

“Convenience and connections are two benefits of Bluwater Crossing’s live work loft townhomes,” said Kevin Andrade, senior managing director. “The concept allows owners the chance to simplify their life, save resources by avoiding commutes, and promote their businesses.”

As premier California real estate in Carlsbad, Bluwater Crossing offers 78 residential homes including 15 two-story town homes and 51 lofts. Bluwater Crossing is located adjacent to the Poinsettia Coaster station linking North County with downtown San Diego, and is just a stroll from the beach.

This prime Carlsbad real estate is near Avenida Encinas and Embarcadero Lane and is a compact and well-connected village-type neighborhood with retail and shopping. There will also be 21,600 square feet of retail / commercial space integrated into the project. Homeowners will have access to numerous conveniences right outside their home and/or office and secure underground parking.
“Bluwater Crossing offers entrepreneurs the opportunity to network within their community,” said Brad Perozzi, managing director of Costa Mesa-based Trammell Crow Residential. “Owners benefit from everyday foot traffic, which results in access to information and new business prospects. Intellectual capital is just another benefit of living in a mixed-use transit oriented development.”

Tick Tock… Tick Tock… Bluwater Crossing Incorporates Artistic Clock Tower into Mixed-Use Development

March 3rd, 2009

SAN DIEGO — Bluwater Crossing is a mixed-use live/work development located in coastal Carlsbad, California. Bluwater Crossing was developed by Trammell Crow Residential to be a part of an entire movement in business that puts an emphasis on quality of life, planet-conscious decision-making and efficient operations. In keeping with the community’s sustainable nature, Trammell Crow Residential has recently retained a renowned Miami-based artist Luis M. Alonzo-Barkigia to design a Clock Tower.

The clock tower is built in the heart of the village courtyard. The clock tower will not only serve as a unifying landmark for the neighborhood, but it is also intended to remind residents of the importance of time. Many buyers are no doubt naturally time-conscious consumers, given the Bluwater Crossing’s position as a community that allows residents to enjoy a more balanced lifestyle and to break free from the grind of a daily commute.

The 18-feet-tall Clock Tower follows a typical obelisk shape and the images in the corten steel panels of the Clock Tower are inspired by Mr. Alonzo-Barkigia’s memories of growing up in San Diego. Mr. Alonzo-Barkigia described the images as “California Aquatic,” ranging from fish and whales to cliffs and surfers.

“I wanted the images to blend into one another and lend a sense of abstraction to the work by blurring the images,” Alonzo-Barkigia says. ”This generally leads to a more open interpretation by the viewer, and sometimes the viewer is surprised by finding something that he or she didn’t see immediately.”

“For those who live by the water, the ocean is always calling,” Mr. Alonzo-Barkigia continues. “It is a place for meditation, adventure, and rejuvenation. Filled with beauty and danger, the deep blue waters of the Pacific spark our imagination.”

About the Artist
Luis Alonzo-Barkigia was born in Tijuana, Mexico, and grew up in San Diego, California. His bicultural upbringing has been instrumental in the development of his work. Currently working with Diana Lowenstein Fine Arts Gallery in Miami, Florida, Mr. Alonzo-Barkigia is paying homage to his years growing up in Southern California. He conceived the Bluwater Crossing Clock Tower with two points in mind: artistic distinction for Bluwater Crossing and a contemporary design that is both functional and on par within its architectural context.
